How well are these laptops as far as condition?
Setting up a i5 M11x for 1040 with 2 yr accidental warranty.. worth it?

Are the laptops a hit and miss as far as condition?

Is there a catch ? warranty the same as new purchace?

    Thanks :)

I think it a great deal. Wait for an outlet coupon like I did though. I got 20% off my M11x - from the scratch & dent. To be honest, there were some MINOR scuffs on the lid, otherwise it looked and smelled like it was never used.

Warranty is 1 year for me.

warranty is whatever the original purchaser (who refused the laptop, hence why it's in the outlet) originally chose to have.

If they chose 2 year, you will get the full 2 year warranty as a result.

    Darn you!

I was being so patient with it sitting below my desk, waiting until I was off work to open it up. I gave in and opened my box. I haven't booted it up yet but at first inspection it looks great. I see some finger prints but no scratches and I even have some of the protective plastic still on the shiney parts that normally you peel off after a while. The hinges look good and make no sounds but I know that doesn't mean anything.

I was surprised at the packaging though. Mine came in a plain brown box, with only an insert with plasctic wrap holding the laptop to it. No foam, no alienware box inside. No biggie but kinda plain. I always keep my boxes until the warranty is up, and would have felt better with better packaging. Hopefully I don't have to send it in though and worst case they come out to repair it.

One more thing, this this is TINY!

I agree with dajohu that the packaging was rather minimal and plain. I was at least hoping for the cloth bag that everyone mentions it coming with in other threads.

As for the machine itself, mine has a few very minor scratches in the center of the lid, along the raised ridge down the middle of it. They're only noticeable when the light hits it just right. Everything else looks great, and runs fine. Not even a hiccup when I updated drivers for everything, which was a miracle in itself.
