    VLC to optimus or not to optimus?

    it seems logical to me to tell vlc to use the intel HD to decode instead of the geforce for power reasons. So i did a 1080p movie and found that with optimus enabled, it was about 15-25% cpu usage. with intel HD enabled it was about 25-35% usage as was leaving GPU rendering off completely. which leads me to wonder, which is more power efficient. I would guess even at 10% more cpu, leaving the geforce disabled would be more efficient. anyone else want to chime in?

    MKV files run just fine on the Intel graphics. Caught up on all the Young Justice episodes that way. :)

    Oh and as for power, all I know is that it gets much hotter and louder using the 335M vs the Intel. Good enough reason for me to stick with the intel graphics for VLC.

    Agreed. I have no problem playing high bitrate bluray rips back on the IGP with MPCHC. No need for the 335.
