I would like to install a Verizon capable wwan card in my m11x however I haven't heard much about this. I was wondering if anyone has experimented with the HP mini wwan card yet? Or is anyone aware of a verizon capable wwan card in general? Any insite would be appreciated!

    Thank you in advance

    ejohnson,

I see a couple different variations of the Gobi 5620. However, this particular one which has a different PN# than yours, claims it'll work for Verizon

Happen to have any helpful insight as to whether or not this will be a problem?

Should work as long as its a evdo-hspa card.

Verizon uses the evdo part of the card.

Cool, ordered and on the way. Now to find some antennas.... :/ Seems like the only thing available are the wlan ones. Those would probably work I'd assume....

Alright, got the card in, still waiting for the antennas. Finally found a working driver for it...now the question is, what utility is used if you want your m11x to work with the dell 5620 (Gobi 2000 CN-0GV33N) wwan card? The downloaded the VZAccess Manager, and it looks like it's detecting the card for a brief second because it pops with the name of the card, then it says that it didn't find anything. Did you have any bumps setting yours up, ejohnson? I also used the Dell Mobile Broadband Utility but it is asking for a sim card....I didn't notice a sim slot, I could be wrong, but either way, I would think detect it through the VZAccess utility.

    Thanks

Alright, just checked my wwan card, there is no spot for a SIM card. Secondly, was the dell wwan manager, the same as this link?

The sim card goes in right above your sd card reader. There is a small slot there that takes the sim.

    Yes thats it.

I think I got everything squared away. Got the SIM card, and have that installed.

I think the one last question I have is this. Under the Network selection area in the Dell Mobile Broadband Utility, if I have "Verizon Wireless" provider selected (which is UMTS technology) it says that the sim card is not activated, and it's kind of at a stale mate it appears. So I switched to the "Verizon" provider (CDMA technology) and I was able to activate the SIM under this. Any drawbacks/differences/insite on this?

Thanks ejohnson, you've been a great help!

Next to the name there is usally a location ID (EU for europe) make sure you are picking the right country.

But cdma is what verizon uses.

Ah, good call. The one that wasn't working was EU so that explains that =p I think I'm there! Once again, great info ejohnson! Hope this thread can help others who convert to Verizon!

Depends, most things I have ordered from overseas take about 2 weeks, but I have gotten some with in a weeks time or as long as a month.

I usually get packages from overseas 2-3 times a week.
