so ive been looking around the forum here and there and viewing recent posts here and there , and ive seen that the i series ... sucks. I personally have the R2 with i7 and 4gb ram , but is the speed difference between the I series and the Dual core the same? if so why is it more expensive ... if all we get in optimus and a lamer battery and no VGA port!

The iX series doesn't "suck" it is faster than the C2D (perhaps no substantially, but faster none the less), and it is more future proof to be sure. For instance, you can probably play APB or other CPU intensive games better than an R1.

You can never upgrade your CPU and so having the best CPU available is worth it. You are correct it wouldn't be worth the cash to sell an R1 to upgrade to an R2, but if this is your first M11X you might as well get the better CPU for the future.

It is more expensive because the iX series processors command a premium from Intel, they are more than double the price of the old C2D ULV, and thus you get to pay that premium for them.

You thinking I am gonna bite his head off tweak?

I agree with his statement, the i7 is better, as I said in my post, it isn't worth trading in an R1 for the 10-20% boost in a few games, but if you are getting a new M11X today I would get the i7.

FYI, i7 640UM is roughly equivalent to i3 350M in CPU performance. This is based on the wprime scores i found online. There's really no reason to get i5UM as this will be performing at the same level as OC'ed 7300.

So this refresh is really funny because you're paying up to 200 bucks more for very small performance gain.

Yea but we have known that for a long time, I told people this months ago when the refresh was first announced.
