What gaming mouse do you guys use with your M11x? Looking for suggestions.
Do you guys use a separate keyboard or do you just game with the laptop and a mouse?
-
I tried and tested a lot of mice including those provided by Microsoft, Logitech and Razer. To be honest, I was never quite happy with either of those, since I use a somewhat mutated "Clawgrip" style, defined by holding the mouse with your thumb and your pinkie only (squeezing its sides). I also tend to raise the mouse off the table a lot.
By means of trial (and error) I eventually discovered the mouse which happens to be absolutely perfect for me - Roccat Kova. It is relatively small, very good for those preferring to claw their mice, and remarkably lightweight. -
I personally game on an external monitor, so a separate keyboard is a must (just a wireless Logitech). The m11x keyboard is pretty good, except if you need the arrow keys, since they're a little narrow. I personally use the Microsoft Sidewinder x8 as my mouse, but there are a lot of good options.

Logitech VX Nano.

-
Logitech Anywhere MX. I just picked it up and love it.
-
The VX Nano frequently goes on sale for less than $25 too, just was $21.99 at Amazon.com, backup to $38. -
When I gamed I used my Razer Naga. I wish the naga was lit green to match. Moot point now as it sits on my desk connected to my server(s).
-
Razer Deathadder, lightweight, fast, and I love the customization program that comes with it.
-
I use the tactx mouse, but I made the 6 foot long cable 20 inches so I dont have 4 extra feet of wire wrapped up laying around.

Logitech G9X
-
-
Logitech G700
-
Logitech MX518 - I have 3 of them in my house
-
Steelseries XAI, best mouse I've ever had.
-
logitech G500...I got it for $30 from newegg last year...
-
I have three VX Nano mouses (mice, meece? lulz) and two MX518's. -
Logitech MX Performance... for one thing... the darkfield laser that works on ANY surface, even black glossy desk top or even on a glass top... it works everywhere. Awsome. I don't use the TactX mouse anymore, because i hate a mouse with a wire...
-
-
Anywhere MX. on Amazon it's going shipped for less than 40$ now
-
Hm...looks like the Logitech Anywhere MX is a leader. Good price ($40), great laser (Darkfield), and it can work on more surfaces...definitely a plus for a laptop mouse. It has a nice case with it, too.
EDIT: hm, I'm considering this guy - I love trackballs and this one may just have enough precision for gaming (BF:BC2):

I think I am going to give it a shot.
EDIT2: decided to go with a Razer Deathadder Black Edition.

razer orochi
-
-
I've been really pleased with my orochi. It's the perfect setup for the m11x as you can bring it out and flip on the wireless (no nub to plug in or leave in) for quick usage. Then break out the cord for your gaming.
A lot of folks complain about the really fast sleep timer in bluetooth mode but I don't really have a problem with it myself given the only time I'm using it that way is for just web browsing/email/other quick stuff. -
One day, I'll have a Razer Naga Epic... One day... untill then, I'll stick with my Logitech MX 518.
-
I bang a Razer Orochi with my M11x. (small, comes with a carrying case, good for claw-grip gamers, added bonus of bluetooth mode when I'm not gaming)
I use a Logi G9 on my desktop (I use the small palm grip & medium weight)
Roccat Kova on my workstation.
Some other notable mice:
Roccat Kone(great customization)
Razer Mamba(wireless)
Razer DeathAdder (non-wireless)
Logitech G500 (great ergonomic mouse)
That's my list of recommended mice based on mice that I've personally used myself. -
Bought a Razer Orochi last night from Amazon. I should receive it on Wednesday. That will give me time to try it out on my work laptop prior to the receipt of my M11x.
Thanks for the opinions, guys. -

I have an extra MX 518 I bought from Fleabay for $18 a while back. That's what I'll be using.
-
i really wanted a 5button, non bluetooth, portable mouse. but i couldnt find any that were worth the cash for all the compromises id have to make (grip, color, button layout) so since i love the deathadder, i just shortened the cord lenght on a backup deathadder i had down to 8".
been happy so far. -
But if you are considering the mouse, I would recommend that you check out ViciousXUSMC's excellent video review that he made. It is a very balanced and objective review of the mouse, and is an excellent resource to help you decide whether it is the right mouse for you.

I want something high performing for online FPS. So if I'm on the wrong path, let me know. -
On my work laptop, I'm bouncing back-and-forth between a Logitech Performance MX and a Logitech Marathon mouse. They are replacing a Logitech G5.
On my gaming laptop, I'm currently undecided which mouse I want to use. I was using a Logitech G700, which I recently sold. That mouse replaced a Logitech G5. Still looking for a good mouse to pair with this.
I tend to play a variety of games. Action games, FPS'es, RTS'es, strategy games, and the occasional MMORPG. When I look for a mouse, I first look for comfort, performance (DPI and USB polling rate), and decent software to go with the mouse. Beyond those core features, I'll shop around and look for whatever features are the flavor-of-the-month for me.
Don't get me wrong... Razer makes good mice, and they make pretty mice. Some people definitely want those features, and Razer does those very well. Fair enough. Some people also want ambi-dexterous mice, which Razer does better than any other manufacturer. Fair enough. Some people are repeat Razer customers, because they have had good experience with Razer mice in the past. Great.
But they do a lot of things that I don't like. I don't like colored LED's. I don't like gold-plated USB connectors. I don't like the "g4M3rZ" branding and image that they try to market, which tries to somehow convince you that colored LED's and gold-plated USB connectors will help you enjoy your games more or be a better gamer. Those features don't matter to me, and I don't want to pay for them. I want every dollar I spend on a mouse to go towards making the mouse be a better performing mouse... not marketing and rainbows.
Plus, I have several examples of how they use deceptive marketing on their website, and I refuse to buy from a company that has to resort to deception to push product.
My personal buying preferences (as one individual with one opinion) lead me to the conclusion that the best mouse for me is usually not made by Razer. -
Got it. Makes sense. I'm not a fan of the marketing, either. But I do know that through my research via MLG, etc. that getting the right components can really give you an edge. Like my Acer H233H monitor and my Astro A40 MixAmp (but I don't use their trash headphones - I have Audio Technica ATH-AD700s). So yeah...sometimes you have to overpay to get that edge. It's worth it to me. I guess we'll see how this Razer stuff works out. I have not used their products before...but I'm buying through Amazon so the return policy is solid.

I've never had good luck with Razer products. I like the way they look, but the software to get the most out of them has never worked properly. Perhaps they've gotten better in recent months/years. I hope it works well for you. I'll stick with Logitech. Good hardware, and if you do have a problem, their customer service is beyond reproach.
-
was originally using a Diamondback 3G, but am currently using a Razer DeathAdder... and I love it.
I've been using Razer for years and never been disappointed with something I've gotten from them.

You are a Logitech fan, nothing wrong with that that, and your pros for the Razer are right I’m a lefty so it was either an orochi or a Left hander deathadder.
So I went for a Orochi for bluetooth wireless for web with wired gaming on an ambidextrous mouse seamed the best one I could find.
I know the gold platted USB and the other BS is BS but in the end of the day I got the mouse that was right for me a very good portable and stylish mouse that works with its built in Bluetooth or wired for gaming.
Ps its also got a great case -
I was able to buy the Razer Kabuto mobile mouse pad for $16.08 shipped direct from Razer. So...not as bad as $20, at least. Thanks for the heads up, sotv kro.
-
I use a alienware tactx, got it for cheaper than the razer or logitech equivalents, but i'd love to give a RAT 7 a try.
-
cool i was upset when i bought it for £16 but when i got it I've decided it was the right move for the Orochi, its really a good mouse mat
-
I've just been comfortable with Logitech mice, and all have lasted well, despite the abuse I've given them, so never really bothered to try other brands. I have trialed a Razer for a short time before, but not long enough to tell. That's the problem though hard to tell what works for you until you've used it for a while.
-
I'm no fanboy and I've only purchased two razer products including the orochi but their products have been top notch in my experience and well worth the price.
Soft touch paint does have a tendency to wear off over time but that wasn't much of an issue for me since this isn't my main computer. -
I actually just use the Mouse-pad. Gaming with a Laptop keyboard and a mouse just doesn't really fit.
-
i bought a death adder from my bro ;p now i have a death adder i use ;p
