Looking at adjusting all the programs that start when Windows boots. Probably going the MSConfig route to disable any I don't deem necessary. Who else has optimized boot time this way? and which programs did you find most taxing on your system that you disabled?

There are some excellent threads on this subject that explain in detail... on the Services as well as the Startups. In general I keep the battery usage down to less than 9 watts, but still have the functionality that I personally like.

    SynTPEnh
    RtHDVCpl
    FreeFallProtection
    IgfxTray
    HotKeysCmds
    Persistence

    Then I added:
    RocketDock
    F.lux
    ShowBatteryBar
    Dexpot

So you disabled the top 6, and added the bottom 4? Just making sure I am reading it right.

Which threads are you talking about? I really only read the M11x Sub-Forum here...

No keep those running, and disable most anything else (startup), services a different matter.

try a search on "Battery Optimize". I wouldn't get sofware to do itautomatcally though. My battery life went from 4 hrs (stock) to almost 8 hrs (no wifi/bt)

If you download and install a program called Ccleaner, it will show you your startup programs from there you can disable them on startup. Usually, you can disable every single program in that startup menu.

You could always try Soluto as it analyses your startup and shows in lay persons terms what can be removed from startup and/or how long it takes for that application to load.

It's all graphics friendly and just point and grunt (the grunt is optional)

I think there is something in that for all of us
