I opened up my machine tonight to upgrade the RAM, and I see what looks to be a pull tab with an arrow on the hard drive. I wanted to ask the experts here before I go ripping this out, but what the hell is it? Thanks!

Don't rip it out. It's usually there to help you get the hard disk out after you unscrew the driver carrier. It's saying, "you have to pull this way to unseat the drive carriage and not just try to pry it out like it looks like you have to." So people don't trash their machine just trying to replace a hard disk.

Awesome thanks. I think I have assembled too many children's toys lately haha.

lol the first impression is to pull that out without unscrewing the HDD
I did that with my girlfriend macbook, lol -
Hahahaha LOL, it is a pull-the-hard-drive-out with ease tab. Don't rip it out or it will be harder to pull the HDD out.

Those tabs are so flimsy though. I managed to rip the one on my old battery (and yes, I did unscrew the battery and unplug the cable first before pulling the tab)

it's more of a lift than a pull though
What exactly is this inside my M11X?
