Hey guys, I recently bought a M11x with i7 and 4GB of ram, but yesterday I saw a computer for the same price with the SU7300 and 8GB of ram. I was wondering if I should stick with my i7/4G or go with the Core2/8gb ? Thanks

Stick with the i7. You will see a performance boost over the C2D and you will be able to upgrade the RAM in the future whereas if you chose the C2D theres no way you would be able to upgrade the CPU unless you get a new system.

And you get Optimus, and driver updates with the i7 model. with the C2D model, you get regular hybrid graphics, and driver updates only from dell.

I don't know about performance boost. My R1 runs Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, Crysis, Crysis Warhead, COD:MW2 etc with no problems at all (I don't even change down the graphic options, just run with what the games pull up -highest I'm sure- not optimized). I don't even use the integrated graphics on my R1 and get great battery life. Really, I think that they're even.

So far you can't use the driver direct from nVidia with either the R1 or R2; both only work with drivers direct from Dell, so that's a tie really. The newest version of the drivers for each have been hacked into working only by forum members. There hasn't been word of whether that will change, as far as I've read.

As for the topic of the thread, you really need to tell us what you're going to be doing to know which one is going to do it better :p. In most cases, the one you have will be better, though.

^Then, yeah, I agree with everyone else here about sticking with the one you have. You'll benefit from the speed increase of the I7 and probably never see a performance boost going with 8gb of ram over 4gb.
