    Hi,

I was just wondering what speeds you guys were connecting with the DW1520 wireless card in your m11x's. I seem to cap off at 130Mbps. I assumed that I would be able to connect at 300Mbps?

I have a DIR-655 extreme N router and I know in the past I was able to connect to it with my other laptop at 300MBps.

I also noticed that there is a 'afterburner' setting in the DW1520 property setting which is at 'disabled' for the default. Anyone know what this is for?

    Thanks for any feedbacks.

Dont use windows to check for speed, because thats just the link rate.

You need to make sure your security mode is set to WPA2-AES on 40mhz wide band

Afterburner is just like turbo'd wireless G (up to 108mbps+)

Thanks for your answer. My security mode has already been WPA2-AES and my band is 20/40 auto and my speed is still capped and not going beyond 130 mbps.

I am thinking of replacing the wireless card with the intel6200. Is it just a simple hardware swap? Can anyone vouch for the performance difference between the 2?

    Thanks.

I swapped to the 6200 card and love it, much better signal and my downloads are faster, I get over 900mbps downloading games from steam now.

Was it just a simple direct swap out? Was it immediately recognised or did you have to install new drivers? Mind if I asked where you got it from?

I saw this one on Amazon, I am guessing this is the correct one to get:

    Thanks. :)

I think thats the one I got, It should come with a CD with the drivers on it that you need to install. I tried to use the drivers listed on itels web page but they do not work for some reason.

Swapping was really easy, unscrew the rear cover, pop both antennas off, remove one screw and pull out car, reverse order for installing new one. Takes about 5-10 minutes to do.
