When gaming, I'll have mine on the desk, but it's so small, that for casual use, it seems like it'd work great on the couch or bed as well. I bought this notebook cooler earlier today and, as a flat surface, works great! It fits the m11x perfectly and, though it may not look it from the pics on the site, it's constructed from a really shiny plastic that does a good job at accentuating the reflective bits of the m11x. (and for the record I have no intention of plugging it into my m11x and using the fans :p )

What, if any, notebook coolers are you guys using?

It's either the Zalman NC1000 or don't spend money on a notebook cooler.

I dont use one as the r1 does get that hot during gaming even. The r2 get a little warmer, but the m11x as a generally excellent thermal design so usually you dont need a cooling pad. Honestly any cooling pad that can circulate are well is fine. I dont see the point of spend $50 on a nice one when you can get a cheaper one that does the same thing. I remember i bought a cheap $15 at my local computer store for my old laptop and it worked great for a computer that reached 60ish C at idle.

Cooler Master Notepal U1.. Don't really think the fan helps much at all but it makes a nice protector when I'm carrying my laptop around.. My m11x gets super hot (CPU 84, GPU 80)

I bought the Logitech Cooling Pad N100. I didnt buy it for cooling as such (it only has one usb fan that is quiet with a lil airflow) but i bought it to elevate the m11x, as the fan intake is on the bottom n b4 this was just on the desk which blocked it.

I'm using the Belkin Notebook Cooler for my M11xR2 and it cools it down effectively because it blows cool air straight on the notebook and it's designed for the hot air to escape. I'm getting really good temperatures with it, running it all the time when using the notebook.

I keep mine elevated when on my desk. Otherwise, I find that sitting it on a book with the fan side open keeps the air flowing nicely.

I agree the thermal design is good on these. Ever since my first hinge replacement though it's run toasty. I've had several replacements since then (all hinge) and mentioned it to a few of them and "everything checks out fine" as usual. I don't care enough to try and reseat it myself, though.

I use a Zalman 3000S this has a big fan so the decibals are lower and would produce a better airflow. Been using this for over 6months and it work like a charm.

Hi, I'm mexican and I go to the United States about 3times each year. My family just told me we are going to go very soon (This or the next month), and well, i was planning to buy a LAPTOP COOLER.
Actually, i tried to make my own cooler, and it worked well about 1 week, after that the adapter i was using to feed the fans overheated and now is useless.
So the Coolers I'm looking at the moment to buy them are this ones : Cooler Master - NotePal U2 Laptop Cooling Stand - R9-NBC-8PBK-GP
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Cooler+Master+-+NotePal+U3+Laptop+Cooling+Stand/2193357.p?id=1218313907686&skuId=2193357&st=laptop%20cooler&cp=1&lp=2 Cooler Master - NotePal ErgoStand Cooling Stand with Fan for Select Laptops - R9-NBS-4UAK

But, I just saw that "Zlog"and "Intangble" said that the Zalman NC1000 is worth your money.
So, if anyone can HIGHLY RECOMEND me one, just before i buy the wrong one for 20-50 bucks, It would be great and i would appreciate it.
By the way, I'm planning to waste around 15-50 bucks , no more.
I dont really care if it is portable , if the fans make a lot of noise, etc. I just want something to keep my laptop "relatively"cold while gaming/ web surfing.

    NOTE!!!:
I CAN HIGHLY RECOMEND YOU TO MAKE YOUR OWN COOLER! Specially if you live in the Us, because the fans there are under 1 dllr, while here in mexico they are around 4-5 dllrs each one.
It is a way better because you are putting the fans anywhere you need them.
...You will just need any adapter/power supply (Here I can recomend to use an adapter like a cellphone charger instead of an USB), and 2-3 fans that are around 1 dllrs in the Us. Oh, and the surface. This video gave me the idea to make my own laptop cooler, and probably if you decide to make one, probably it could help you too.

YouTube - HOW-TO: laptop cooler for under 5 dollars!!!!

    Thanks :D

Basically, if my Zalman were to get lost, stolen, or broken somehow, I would buy another one without question. The only possible problem is I'm not sure what retail store (if any) carries them - I think you would have to order one online.

Isn't the Zalman NC1000 bigger than the laptop as it's a 15" screen, wouldn't the Zalman NC1500 Mini at a 12" fit the M11X better?
