    Hey everybody,

New to this forum but had a couple of questions regarding what to modify next? Now I haven't done much just a HD swap to a 128gb SSD, and I do plan on upgrading my ram to 8gb, but the question is, can I do anything more??

I really don't feel comfortable to swap out the CPU and I don't believe there are trustworthy shops in my local area to drop off my laptop to.

Please let me know what you all think!

    Here's my specs:

Processor Type: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 1.30 GHz
Graphics Processing Type: NVIDIA GEFORCE GT 335M
    Memory: 6 GB
    Model: M11X
Hard Drive Capacity: 128 GB SSD
    Screen Size: 11.6
    Operating System: Windows 7
    Operating System Edition: Home Premium

Yeah that seems to be the word around here =\ so I was actually thinking, does anyone know where I could possibly pick up let's say a whole another laptop with more up to date mobo, processor (preferably an i5 or i7) that wouldn't be the same cost as picking up a new Alienware and just doing a straight swap? Has anybody done that already?

If you're talking about puting the mobo from a totally different brand laptop into the R1 chassis, then no it is not possible. As it is the motherboards from the different revisions don't fit in the other model chassis without some serious modifications, let alone ones made by completely different manufacturers.

With the amount of butchering you're going to have to do to the chassis just to make it fit, it won't matter that you used an Alienware chassis because it simply won't look like one. It would be a hell of alot easier just trying to mount the LCD assembly & lid onto another laptop tbh.

I sold off my R1, it just was not enough anymore. It was overclocked, had 8GB ram and my vortex SSD.

But you have pretty much maxed it out except for the ram, which will not make a big difference (unless you need it).

If you have not already done so, go into bios and turn the overclock on for the pro, that will bring you up to the 1.73 ghz. Everything helps on this computer ;)
