Since I have a KVM setup at my desk, I would like to keep a power supply there at all times and purchase another one to use on the go. Can anyone provide a link to the proper power supply to buy for the R2?

Doesn't seem to be available on the Dell site. Although I suspect it's the same RM809 90w adapter used for other Dell notebooks
-
gong through the dell parts section i can only find one typr for both m11x's
DELL 65 Watt 3 Prong AC Adapter with 3.28 ft Power Cord for Select Dell Inspiron / Studio Laptops : Laptop Accessories | Dell -
Thats the R1 adapter. The R2 is a 90Watt. And as posted above the standard dell 90w is fine, you can pick them up dirt cheap on ebay. I am lucky enough to have a few spares from work
-
Would the 2 prong adapter work with the M11XR1?
-
I would try avoiding the 2 prong... Couple of years back the M1530 shipped with the 2 prong and people reported issues with tingling palms while resting on the wristpad. Mine back then did that and the issue went away after receiving a replacement 3 prong from Dell.

I realise that
I said ionly found that one for both models ( meaning r1 and r2 )
-
His point is saying you found it for both models implies it works for both models, but it doesn't.

Hey Guys,
I am sure many of you either have or would like to use a second power adapter for your R2, and I am hoping someone on this thread knows of a good site to get one from?
If you have a direct link to a site/page, that would be very helpful. I am aware that the R1 and R2 models have different requirements, 60w vs 90w i think, so, I am onlt interested in power adapters that can work safety for the R2.
Thanks!

I ordered this power supply from eBay for $24.88 with free shipping. It took about 10 days to receive from China, but it works great!
-
That looks like a good alternative. I am sorely tempted to order it, but have heard and seen fake dell OEM stuff coming in from China through ebay.
If nothing else is available, I will most likely order it.
Thanks for your kind sharing of information.

Try craigslist. The old dell ac adapters are a dime a dozen.
-
Does Dell or Alienware have a page to buy the power supply? I think I'd like a second one for work, and I don't want to use ebay or craigslist, I'm outside the US.
-
the answer to that is in the first reply in this thread....
-
That was posted a month ago so I thought it was time to ask again, no need to be snarky

Since Dell is sending me a replacement M11xR2 with its own adapter, I was thinking of keeping the one from my current machine as well. Do you think they'll miss that?! I figured I could play it off as if I was assuming they would automatically charge me for it since I can't find it anywhere to purchase. Whadya think?!
-
give it back
Im sure they will check the package before giving you a refund. -
I got this one from Dr.Battery
Welcome to DrBattery.com (Replacement Notebook Adapter for 19V 4.74A 90W Laptop Adapter (Dell Universal Tip Adapter))
Its a universal, and the M11x uses the K1 tip. I used a small bit of heat shrink on the connection so that it doesnt come apart. I use this one at work, and keep the stock one for home / travel. -
Another alternative if you can't get a hold of a Dell one is the Lenovo slim 90w adapter. It includes universal heads. Its not cheap, but I have seen it for sale in the $50 range before.

If anyone sees a way to order this directly from Dell, let me know, I can ask my company to buy it for me if it's just an accesory
Where to buy extra power supply for R2?
