I'm looking at these sets. Any recommendations? For the record, I'm leaning toward the Corsair. Would it be beneficial to go down to 1066 with 7-7-7-20 timings?

If you want the Corsair then go for them but personally I went with these
Newegg.com - G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1066 (PC3 8500) Laptop Memory Model F3-8500CL7D-8GBSQ
the r2 can only use the ram at 800 but it does not matter too much because whatever you get it will down clock it (so 1333 is fine) also the gskill has a lower cas latency which helps a little -
I have this exact set of ram. It works good. However if anyone plans on overclocking atleast for the R2 i was limited to 159FSB. With the stock samsung ram I was able OC to 164FSB. Both stable.
With the G-skill i was able to get to between 163-164FSB not 100% stable using Thaiphoon.
So needless to say if any OC is planned get 1333mhz ram. You will be able to OC a lot more as you can find some threads here showing exactly how much of a difference it makes. -
I plan on overclocking to no less than 166 mhz, hopefully more. I'll be going for at least 1333, maybe HyperX 1600?

I know those are over kill... But those are what I will be buying as well. Just to make sure the ram isn't the bottleneck when it comes to OC. Plus I plan on buying an m18x around the end of the yr and might just throw those in it, who knows.
Only thing keeping me right now from pulling trigger is Samsung I believe is supposed to be releasing the new chips this month which run at lower voltage and i think are 30nm tech I believe. -
I have the Corsair on my R3 and it works just fine without overclocking, however...
The R2 is a different motherboard from my R3 and there's a forum member who had a really bad experience with multiple sets of that same Corsair memory on his R1, none of which worked despite multiple RMAs. So, just fair warning!

Could you guys run CPU-Z and post a screenshot of the SPD tab? I'm interested in seeing the timings table.

I bought this RAM and could not go more than 150MHz (luck of the draw) while my stock RAM got me a little over 170MHz. Just my two cents.

anyone have Patriot RAM installed? is it any good?

Well, I opted not to buy new memory, and just bought a new laptop instead.
I will be selling the m11x very soon.
Which memory should I buy?
