Every so often my laptop will chirp at me. I can't seem to find a pattern for when it happens. Sometimes it does it a couple of times, sometimes it's just once. Does anyone have any idea why it may be doing this? Thank you!

It's not. It tends to happen any time. For example, it happened right as I was about to make this reply.

It just means its accepted you as it's master, and it loves you.

Or it's angry at you and plans to kill you while you sleep. Hard to tell.

I heard thats what they do right before they self destruct. :)

j/K i think it has something to do with a fall sensor

Definitely going with the first option, that way, I can feel less crazy when I tell it how much I love it...

In a somewhat related way, the noise does sound like "alien speak". But since I've never heard an alien talk, I do feel a little insane typing that.

Mine does the same and the noise arises from the hard drive. I rate its the freefall sensor rocking it out as a DJ. Who knows.

If you're an accountant for a failing wall street company and passing the third floor window in free fall, is the M11x still chirping as you're falling?
If we don't hear from you, guess we have our answer.

If however, your M11x is sitting static on a desk (stable platform), and still 'chirping' then it's not the free fall sensor (failing sensor excluded).

Is it a process trying to contact you? Hello? Are you there?

Your m11x is just trying to have a conversation with you. Chirp back.

Thanks guys. After having a long and involved conversation with my laptop, I'm left with only the question, "Why is my m11x chirping at me"

Mine does the same, always has, and as another poster suggested I find chirping back at it, or telling it to shut up usually makes me feel better.
