Super excited to receive my "netbook" yesterday, I scurry to various parts of the computers software to update anything that will help improve performance and stability for the operating system.

After downloading the new Nvidia update and having my resolution pack up and walk away, leaving the intel graphics with a code 31 and 800x600 resolution, I was able to finally restore the original driver via Dell's website.

So after searching around a bit, I discovered that even though I don't contain Nvidia's "Optimus" technology, I (along with other M11x owners) are not able to update the drivers via Nvidia due to the hybrid graphics combo and the manual function button.

Question in place, What to do for driver updates? Wait?

    don't update from nvidia.

    use support.dell for the 335.

though i haven't done it, i believe you can download the 260.99 driver from nvidia and it will be workable as long as you stay in discrete.

there are drawbacks though to this from what i understand.

Thanks for the responses. Do you think they can or will achieve a driver that will allow for normal Nvidia hybrid switching without having to sacrifice or alter any part of the OS?

^ The default driver from Dell (197.72) does just that. (besides the part about updates)

Besides that, just use "Test mode". You won't notice the difference.

Not having to sign the drivers might eventuate when getting the Intel and nVidia drivers modded but separate.

Thanks. That driver update was the one included when I received the M11x. So I guess I'll just look to dell for the next hybrid update.

Of course, I hope Dell/nVidia will release a new driver soon... :/

Perhaps as a Christmas present? Hint. Hint.

260.99 works great until you're done gaming and want to go back to Intel graphics (like someone mentioned above I think.)

I use the 260.99 right now and its fine but I think I'm going to switch back to Dell's as I didn't receive much frame rate increase and these optimus issues are killin me havin to restart constantly (at least my boot is faster now haha)
