So I'm thinking about buying a monitor 22 inch 1080p for use at home cuz the m11x screen is too small. So my question is does using a 1080p screen affect the gpu performance since the laptop screen is only 720p.

    any advice is welcome, Thanks.

Yes, of course it will, since you're gaming on it, and you will use the maximum rez on the monitor, you will see a bit of a punch on the FPS.

You can change the resolution of the game to 1366 x 768 and it will offer the same performance as the M11x screen. Depending on the monitor, it might not look good scaled down from the native resolution though.

Playing a game at 720p is far less demanding than 1080p, of course there will be a performance drop.

A 1080p monitor is fine. Set the resolution to 1080p when you are doing anything besides gaming. When you do play a game, play it at 1366 x 768 or any 16:9 resolution and you will be fine. I use a 1080p external monitor and that's what I do.

Meant to say 1366 x 768 or any lower 16:9 resolution. If that game doesn't strain the gpu you might even be able set the resolution higher than the default 1366 x 768 that the M11x uses.

Scaling the monitor down from it's native rez is going to be...quite disappointing.

Depends on the monitor. My 37" 1080p monitor looks good at other 16 x 9 resolutions when I play games. Outside of games it doesn't though.

yea i hope it can run on 1080p with decent fps, LoL is a MOBA game so fps is very important, maybe i can turn the setting down a little.

There are a lot of games that run great at 1080p in the m11x, of course nothing that new or demanding....

I use a 1080p 32" HDTV Samsung, with HDMI, and I game at 1080p when I can, if a game does not work that good, I use 1366x768 and scale in the 1080p screen, is not the same, but is like using a console, the games look ok...

The best is to find a 1366x768 monitor, with HDMI (for the R2 and R3) and is hard, the lowest I have find is a 1600x900 (20") with HDMI, all 1366x768 are VGA only (at least where do I live)

i don't have it cloned to both screens i just make the monitor the main screen and play there at the res i would usually play on the m11x and it still looks brilliant!

Since when did they start making 37" monitors(non-commercial grade)? Unless you're referring to a TV...

Thanks for that link. What an interesting piece of hardware.

It's basically a Westinghouse HDTV minus the tuner. I'd still consider it a TV, tho. The pixel pitch is too large to use it up close like a monitor. If I were to use a monitor that large it would have to be a 2650x1600 resolution.

How do you like it? I have a Westinghouse HDTV but I don't like it very much.

I think it's great. The black levels could be better but the picture quality is pretty good. There is a thread on the [H]ardforum where people are having problems with these after a while but I have had mine for 3 years now and it still works with no issues. My head is a little over 3 feet away from the screen and the 1080p resolution looks good. The original version of this monitor was very popular years ago because it was the cheapest 1080p monitor/tv at the time.

Depends on the game. Of course it will take hit. But is the hit that destructive to the performance to reduce quality? I play most my games in 1080p unless its too much and then i reduce it to 1440x720. Maybe lose anywhere from 10-30fps
