Well iv been lurking these forums for a fair while now and i finally bought my m11x R2, specs are as follows;
i7 640um
4Gb Ram (samsung)
320gb Hdd (7200rpm) - Soon to be replaced with momentus Xt 500gb
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
(I think alkl other m11x parts are the same)
Price: 1200 AUD
Recieved 2 days ago and these are my thoghts so far:
Id like to say the build quality is amazing,
The screen is a tad glary but u really do get used to it. colours on the screen arent quite as bright as id hoped but in saying that they are not far off being perfect either ( im a bit of a perfectionist with displays).
Keyboard keys are slightly thin but bery easy to get used to (im typing this on my m11x btw)
This is by far the best laptop iv owned. it runs Arma 2 CO very smooth all on medium and shadows on high (only online havent checked singleplayer as i dont really play singleplayer anymore) which is much better than my brothers laptop which is a 16inch HP laptop that can run crysis on highest settings ( havent tried crysis on this yet) have tried crysis 2 demo and it runs very smooth on GAMER settings (didnt try any other settings).
absolutely loving all the cool features that the m11x brings to the table. and would definitely buy one again, this is my first alienware laptop as i think alienware is very overpriced, i just wanted a small laptop that was easy to lug around and could handle all my games, which this does very well.
And finally, iv just stress tested my 166Mhz overclock for 14 hrs using Prime95 and it is indeed stable!!! Love it. (crysis 2 demo doest seem to like to run overclokced tho for some reason, hope this is a sotware issue that fixes itself when the final game is released cos every other game iv tried works fine ), Also not using throttlestop at all. iv been using Cpu-id to watch my clock speeds and it gets up to 28xxMhz by itself without throttlestop being used so im guessing its turbo boosting fine without throttlestop![]()
Anyways just thought id share my own little mini review on My new little favourite the M11x R2. Hope you enjoyed reading, feel free to comment.

should just get a proper SSD!
-
i would love to but i dont have the moneys for a ssd. and i need a fair amount of room.
-
how much do you need firstly and what for? movies, music, pics can all be stored externally. I have a 120gb SSD and i have 7 games on it and planning on 2 more (homefront and monday night combat) and i would still have enough.
-
I have slow internet connection, so I need to have all my games at once, I can´t delete those 7-10GB games, it would take all night to download just one... -
i suggest getting an external and storing your games on that and just pick a few games you really want to play and put those on the M11x. you save space and have all your games still accessible.
I have a 500gb external and it's full of games i got from steam: most of them i don't play but they're there if i want them and all i would need to do is download patches. -
i personally just like having the extra space there if i need it, i alrerady have a 500gb external pocket drive i use for storing movies and backups of games etc. if i could find a 320gb SSD thats around 200 id buy it but i very much doubt itd be a decent one lol

That is why I want all my games in the drive, still, if the SSD and the external HDD combo works for some, great...
