I love m11xR2 i7, this has become my primary laptop. I use it for surfing the web, doing my hw, and watching vids. I mostly only play Sc2 on this on everything ultra settings. M11xR2 should be able to play all of them, but do not take my word, I just play sc2. The batter life is good also, I have 3 hour class and a 1hour class back to back, and I still had 30% of battery left. So through my perspective I love this thing, its my baby
Edit:I did not have any problem with my hinges or my screen, screen isnt touching my keyboard. I dont mind the type of screen, I am mostly indoors and somethings outdoors but I can still see my screen even outdoors. -
I also love my M11x but at this time I can't reccomend it due to the screen problems.

I Freakin love my m11x. It can do just about anything and do it well. I've actually hardly used my PC since I've gotten this. The battery life is phenomenal. I sat in the cafe for 2.5 hours writing a paper/surfing the web, then went to a 1.5 hour class and took notes/surfed there... and when I got home... still 38% battery remaining, its incredible. You get used to the small screen, it doesn't even feel small to me any more (normal laptops just look freakishly large XD) I can play DDO on ultra settings and surf the web at the same time, fluidly. There is a well known hinge issue that supposedly starts creaking and eventually breaks so I would recommend the extended warranty. I received mine almost 3 weeks ago, and no issue yet, I'm hoping the newer ones have been fixed, but its not likely.
My system: i5, 4gigs ram, 120gb OCZ Vertex 2 SSD(well worth the 220 extra bucks on amazon) -
@instantcold, if your running SC2 in all ultra setting.. then your getting about 10FPS. to have SC2 playable online you will need medium settings with blob shadows for 30FPS average.

Which Asus are you talking about? Because I have the G73JH-A1 and while it's much bigger and heavier, it only ended up costing about $150 more than my M11xR2 I7. And while I love my M11x, if I had to choose one, I'd go with my G73JH hands down. Because for $150 more, you're getting a 5870m, 8gb Ram of 1333, 1 TB HD space, Blu-Ray Player, 2nd/3rd best notebook panel display on the market.
The M11x has portability and battery going for it. And I do think it is sexier than my G73. But the Optimus/PunkBuster issue, Hinge cracking issue, 2 panels with dust under the screen - these issues are what keep me from choosing the M11x over the G73 if I had to choose one. If you buy the right version of the G73, it also comes with a very well made Targus backpack that can easily fit the notebook and some textbooks and school stuff.
It's a full size backpack, but it's not as heavy as it is big, a la a true desktop replacement. But the performance and features are amazing.
That being said, if portability and battery are a huge concern and factor, then I'd suggest seriously considering an R1 or even a refurbished R1 (maybe an R2 depending on price/features) from a factory outlet store. You won't have the Punkbuster issues, get better battery, and ideally, are spending no more than IPad prices on this machine rather than pushing past $1800, which is where I'll be at once I get the extended warranty. Which you have to do, otherwise eventually you will have a machine with broken hinges out of warranty.
I feel very fortunate to have both, I like both. But until this PB/Optimus issue is fixed, I'd have to go with the Asus G73JH/JW if I had to choose one.
Now, if that's not the Asus model you're looking at, then the M11x gets even more favor.
But seriously consider an R1. There isn't much performance difference between the R1 and R2 except in BFBC2, which is negated by the Optimus PunkBuster bug.
Or, wait and see if there's an R3 coming around the holidays.
To be fair, there's been many frustrations with the G73 for many owners as well. For my experience it's been bliss, while the majority of my headaches have been with the M11x.
And I still really like/love the M11x. But the PB/Optimus is killing it for me. Once this is fixed and/or the hinge issue is addressed, then it's a much different story.
Or really consider an R1. Some are worried that it won't get continued driver support, but considering the majority of games are developed for consoles and then ported over, and thus built of DX9, you shouldn't have any problems.
That being said, if you want to play Starcraft II at high settings with 30fps+ or Metro 2033 or GTA IV/Episodes of Liberty City - then you're going to want the Asus or something with a stronger CPU.
If you're going to spend around $1500, then seriously consider a G73. Do not get the Best Buy model. It has an inferior panel and is not the nice 1080p one. That being said, it's not hard to buy the Hannstar panel separately and switch it out.
If you're going to keep it around $1000, then I'd be looking hard at an R1 and nothing else.
Hope that helps.
Cheers -

The M11x than is on my posibilites is one whit: i5, 4 gig of ram and the other default things , or one whit C2D -
Look for Dell coupons online, and order the m11x for the Dell site. If you get a little lucky on when you go to buy your laptop, you can actually knock quite a bit off the total. The unit you described there was almost identical to the m11x, except for the screen. The m11x will have a smaller screen, but it also has an 8 cell battery... so I'm sure it blows the Asus out of the water as far as battery life goes. If you get lucky with a few coupons, I'm sure you can knock down an i5 model m11x to around that price.

If you mostly use it for web browsing ect. the core 2 due version will probably give you the most bang for your buck. It is also cooler and has better battery life.

but i want to play some games to, the only ones than i want to play are this: Stronghold 3 (coming soon), starcraft 2, sims 3, and diablo 3 (coming soon),old rts like ages of empires, starcraft, , the m11x is capable of run all of that games (at least in medium graphics but playables)?

If you want to play Starcraft II full blast on a notebook, then you're going to need a true desktop replacement gaming notebook.
But other than that, I agree that the R1 seems like the best choice
a few questions about the m11x
