Hello, and currently I think there is a problem with my m11x...
I do not know if it is physical or software.
The problem is, while playing multiplayer on MW2, after 6 minutes into the game, the frame rate is beginning to drop.
I suspect it would be the fan stopped working because I cannot hear it going into turbo mode or something. But playing on MW2 single player, it is absolutely fine, no lags, no drops.
I do not know if this is a hardware issue which would require me to call dell.... again, or a software issue that can be solved with drivers or etc.
My currently driver for my nvidia card is 189.??, I upgraded it to 260.99 but it glitches up real badly and caused this problem, after a system restore, the problem persists.
Also, the top part of my laptop feels pretty hot during gaming, I don't know if it is a concern or not.
Thank you

I've monitored mine and notice it happens at 74 degrees then throttles down...lots of people recommend disabling powermizer, but that hasnt helped me.
what i've done is make sure i keep GPU temp down (raise up the laptop a little, dont keep it in blankets.....pref sit near my window etc...but also JUST ordered a laptop cooler).
I play black ops, and i can usually go for 3 hrs or so before it does it now....good luck!
does it happen for any other game/ -
Try running a ThrottleStop log file while gaming so you can see if your CPU is slowing down. Read this thread to maximize your gaming performance.

The fix for most fps dropping is the video driver 260.99.
Not sure why you are experiencing problems. I play Black ops fine. -
The thing about this is with 260.99, 257 and 189, all of them I experience FPS drops
-
I do not and i repeat do not experience FPS drops.
Games I play : black ops (its special cause its the game that is broken), left 4 dead 2, counter strike source... -
i have been having the same problem as you. sadly it looks like i am going to have to invest in a laptop cooler
-
Overclock your CPU and use Throttlestop like UncleWebb suggested above. It will stop your cpu from throttling down and dipping your framerate (thus the name ThrottleStop
)
Cheers,
