Why are the M11xR2 in the outlet priced around $1700 when the M11x at the Alienware/Dell online store can be had for around $1300 (plus $210 off to bring price down to $1100)?

I'm comparing identically equipped machines on both the outlet and retail site. If I remember correctly, the only difference between the M11xR1 and M11xR2 was that the R2s had the Core CPUs, Optimus, and no VGA.

Although the machines at the retail site does not mention whether it's R1 or R2, I'm assuming that it is an R2 since we can configure it with the Core i7 - but there is no mention of the Optimus or lack of VGA.

Can someone please confirm whether the R1 has been phased out and that the only model that's sold on the retail site is the R2?

Afterwards, can someone comment on why the outlet pricing is $600 more?

    Thank you!

Looks like its down at the moment. I get a error saying my filters are incorrect every time I try to view the M11x outlet store.

Nope. It's not down. I'm there right now and just refreshed it too:

    Dell Factory Outlet

Here's the link to the Dell Retail Store. I selected the one on the far right that has the $210 savings until April 14th. But even without that $210, the Retail's $1309 is cheaper than the Outlet's $1700!

    Why????

(obviously, I will buy from the Retail store, all things being equal - but my original questions still remain! yes, I need to know why!)

Either they made a huge mistake or there's a 50% coupon for the Outlet somewhere, because those prices are just ridiculous. I got the R2 in my signature for just over $800 from the outlet in October... it's listed for $1,529 now. Might be worth giving them a call?

Thank you for sharing your experience. I don't mean to be rude but this does not address my concern or question.

I KNOW that the Outlet inventory is aways changing. Unfortunately, that doesn't explain WHY the prices are $600 more than retail.

    Again - no offense intended.

Thank you for sharing. I too am familiar with the discount code. But please notice, I'm interested in getting an R2.

This is what I'm looking at the Outlet for $1759:
    Alienware M11x R2
Processor: Overclockable Intel Core i7-640UM Processor (4M Cache, 2.266 GHz Max Turbo Frequency)
320 GB SATA Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
8 GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz (2 DIMMs)
    1 GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 335 M
    Soft Touch Stealth Black
11.6 inch High Definition WLED Display (1366x768)
    8 Cell Primary Battery
    Dell Wireless 1520 802.11n Half Mini-Card
    Dell Wireless 365 Bluetooth Module
    Integrated Webcam
    90W Adapter
    125V Power Cord
    64BIT Operating System

The EXACT same configuration on the Retail site, with a 500 GB drive costs $1100. Again, my initial question - Why??

I missed your post amongst all the other ones.

Yes! What you're saying seems to confirm how I've heard that Outlet jacks up the prices of their stock to accommodate the coupons they issue. But this is plain ridiculous! I only know of the 15% off coupon code. A 50% coupon code is something I've never heard of - but that would be the only thing that would make a person to even want to buy from Outlet right now...

And as far as for calling - I hate talking to overseas people who try to make you think that they are in America... But I might have to, huh?

Never ever order online anyways unless you have coupons because you can always talk down the price with a representative.

That's not accurate. Some of the refurb stock is priced $600 above identical configs when the 20% off refurbs coupon was live. If the price has gone up either the refurb supply is down or dell trying to prompt you to buy a new unit. My bet is on the latter.

    Edit: Clearing new stock ya'll

They definitely do not raise prices at the outlet when there's a coupon. I also doubt they lower outlet prices to keep prices lower than a sale price for a new one.

Just curious why anyone who wants to spend hundreds more than they need too cares what the prices at the outlet are ?
