what is the diffrence between the two , and should i even mess with it since we are talking about a laptop and second hand not always best choice. but refurbished ?

thinking on getting a good deal on a R3 which is manufacturer refurbished.
    bad idea ?

If its from the outlet on the alienware/dell website, its just fine. A lot of that stuff is really brand new.

I've never bought or owned a laptop that was purchased new. All my laptops still work or did work up until the day I sold them. It's fine to buy refurb.

Since u seem to have some sort of knoledge on the matter, wanted to ask u what seems to be the best option. a brand new m11x with 4gb ram i7 cpu and gt540 , or a manufucturer refurbished with same cpu and graphic card only it comes with 8gb ram and 120gb ssd. The price diffrence is about 100$. Manufucturer refurbished is cheaper.

I bought mine from Dell outlet and when it was delivered, it seemed brand new. The only problem I encountered is that my webcam is not working. It is covered under warranty but I don't want to have to go through Dell support for something I barely use. I think I saved almost $500 buying refurb.

could be, find out more about the refurbished dealer, manufacturer refurbished from a random ebay store could run into trouble.

Is it truly manufacturer refurbished? Only dell can put that label on it as they are the manufacturer. Third parties can sell a "new manufacturers refurbished" (from dell) or "used manufacturers refurbished" (like any other used product) or simply "refurbished" (the seller is returning it to like new specs themselves)

    Just be careful.

I was looking up some listing and in the auction they state that they are certified dell refurbs. I think if they come with the year warranty from Dell, you should be good.

If the price difference is so little, you might be better of buying new. I think it will payoff at the resale end if you decide to sell it. Used is a lot more attractive to a buyer than used and refurb.

Really? If you are looking for that, get off the internet.
@Kamzan Follow his advice. I bought a used laptop off ebay, died not a month after purchase. Total waste of money.

ya , it is starting to make more and more sense , rather if its 125$ cheaper or 100$ more expensive with a 120gb SSD inside, cant beat new untouched / played with the hardware inside.
