I believe its because you've done a block level copy, bit like DD in Linux. I know I had the same issue when I did a block level copy using Acronis. You should be able to extend the partition using something like Partition Magic or create a new partition out of the unused space.

I did a backup (from the orig disk) and restore (to the new disk) and found that Windows Update didn't work. In the end I rebuilt my system sing the Alienware CD then put all the AW utils, backgrounds etc back on.

If you right click on "start" and the right click on "computer" select "manage" Once the computer Management window open up you select "Disk Management"

Here you will see what is used and the partitions from the original drives. you should also see some black space that is unused.

Right click on the partition you want to make larger and select "extend" from there it should be fairly straight forward.

    Hope this helps.

I am getting a new HD today and am going to use EASEUS. Did you have to format the new drive before cloning to it, I have never cloned before.

On a side note, I have a 256 Ssd with my R1 and Acronis 2010. Should I upgrade my Acronis to 2011 in order to insure I can backup and restore my entire system or will Acronis 2010 work fine with my SSD?
