i am new here and not sure where to post.
    i have alienware m11xr2
    icore 7 u640 4gb ram 500gb hdd

i just realized i wanted to reformat it becuase i accumalated clutter and junk, wanted to start fresh.

but the dell data safe program will not run. if i open the .exe it will open the main green box where it prompts its program loading than it gives up and shuts down. i continually try to open the program but it just launches the green loading screen and crashes. i also tried to boot pressing F8 and doing the system repair but it doesnt do anything it just resumes booting windows normally
f8 screen works like starting in safe mode and any of the other choices works but if i choose system repair it just boots into normal windows 7.

i need help on how to reformat it back to its factory state like when i first got it

    thanks

Look on your Start button for something called "AlienSpawn"...that's the renamed Datasafe for your laptop. You already have it on your computer and you have a partition with the original snapshot installation of your laptop.
Be sure to make either an 8 gb USB stick or CD recovery copy through AlienSpawn before doing anything else and then look for threads on this forum explaining how to do the Recovery.
Actually, you should be able to do it all through AlienSpawn directions.

i dont think my system came with alienspawn. i am tempted to go to my local store as they have a m11xr1 on display, was gona make a rerstore from its datasafe.would that work or not since the stores model is the lowest m11xr1 and mine is m11xr2. i cant find any support from dell website. and i read on this forum that the restore cd it came with is only a bare windows 7 without any drivers or alienware programs. kinda stupid since any other computers nowadays comes with a full factory restore cd. i am stuppid and did not make a usb copy of the datasafe. i thought the program would always work and didnt want to go buy a 8gb flashdrive

i need help. i really dont like alienware anymore ever since its dell owned now

I'd call Dell support to have them help you sort this out for you.

Look in the control panel to see if AlienSpawn is listed on your computer. You are probably right that you don't have it. When I ordered my m11xr2 online, there was a choice to add in"Datasafe" and a recovery partition and I opted to get it....when I received the laptop it took a week or two before I found "AlienSpawn" was the same as "Datasafe". :)
Yeah, just call Dell and ask for help....that's the best advice.

    haha thanks for help
well i called alienware and spoke with representative, they did that alien contact thing where they control my laptop. yaddie yaddie yadda, 1 hour later. well turns out that the dell datasafe program was corrupted so he uninstalled it and downloaded their other version to my computer of alienrespawn. now i no longer have dell datasafe i now have alienware respawn. that program works and he chose the restore option to restore to factory preset. it restarted to the black (dos?) screen with only text and gave me option to repair system. he told me do that option and i did.
computer restarts back to windows 7 like it normally does. nothing happend. alienware dude said there is a problem with the program linking with the hard drive that has the partition of my factory image, so i have 2 choices. 1=keep trying the alienrespawn program or 2= use the cd it came with and install the bare windows 7 , than call back alienware customer support and they will guide me of installing every other factory programs and drivers.

    dellienware ftw...

i knew i shouldve made that usb datasafe image thing the day i got the puter... that was stupid of me.

so i made a backup usb with the newly installed alien respawn that the alienware representative installed in my m11 . and i tried booting with it and it does the same thing that the alien respawn program does. brings it to the black screen and boots windows 7 normally. no reformat option
    heres screen shot
