**device manager looks like this except for correctly installed devices**
    -display drivers
-(!) Nvidia Geforce GT 335m <---this is all thats listed, no onboard device
    -other devices
    - (!)Network Contoller <--i know this is wireless
    - (!)Unknown Device <---On of these the onboard or chipset device?
    - (!)Unknown Device

So I just re-installed windows and having a similar issue since all the drivers didn't install, but some did. I tried installing the 335m but it has a ! before it, so it shoulld be running off the onboard card right? well under Display drivers nothing else is listed besides the 335m so??I'm getting funky resolution options, all I get are 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768. If I click advanced settings from there under adapter information. all info says <unavailible> or n/a. So again I HAVE NOT imnstalled any video driver apparently (even though I rant the 335m driver from dell), and apparently the drivers for the onboard werent loaded in the re-install either. So right now its just running off some generic driver. Under adapter type if I hit properties it says VgaSave non-plug and play drivers.

What is going on? what do I do next? I have done this many many many times on dozens of computers and havent run into a similar issue. Any help would be great as Im currently browsing connected directly to my router with two crap resolutions to choose from.

I know 2 of my unknown devices were the sd card reader and the free fall sensor. I would try those. As for the display driver I'm not sure since I have a R2.

When my laptop was new a week ago, I checked device manager. I always do this when I recieve a new computer to make sure everything is loaded etc..I noticed under Display Devices there was two loaded, obviously the onboard and the 335m. However now the only once listed is 335m, and nothinbg else, but even it has a exclamation next to it, and my display is weird. Ithink its weird because the driver for the 335m didnt install right, and the onboard one hasnt even been tried so its running a default vga driver...

Can somone help me out here?

Can you get online with the R1 via the ethernet jack? A windows update might help, it will grab files for unknown devices if it can. Exactly what drivers from dell have you installed?

Did you download all the drivers for the m11x from support.dell.com ? What order did you load the drivers in?

I like to install my drivers in this order: intel chipset, SATA, intragrated graphics, nvidia graphics, sound, wi fi, lan, card reader, etc.

I had to call upon all of my old geek powers. Some of the drivers on dells site, such as the drivers for th wireless 5120 card do not install correctly. After going to google and rememberring PCI Vendor and Device Lists I found the vendor and device ids and loaded the drivers from that information, using the manufacturer of the device 100% of the time and not dells website. the last driver that didnt load from the restore was the accelerometer to the HD, this is the only driver downloaded from the dell support page that actually worked. Now Device Manager has no issues, and I have no issues..

    Thanks?? :)

Now I get to start loading all my gams and adoe apps again, boooo. Atleast she super clean now
