i have an R2 and my mate has a R3. We were playing COD beside each other. I noticed my R2 gets hot alot faster then his R3. But this is probably because mines an i7 and his is a i5.. but one thing i did notice when the fans turn on my fan sounds like a plane taking off.. i can hear his but i have to listen for his.. you can hear mine the second you walk into the room.. the fan isn't hiting anything.. ive cleaned it out with compress air.. but the fan is just loud.. this normal with i7 or my R2?

Yes it is normal, but people will complain that your R2 should be quieter than the R3 ; I disagree, I've had both and the R2's noise is quite noticeable but the R3's is easily drowned out by external noises.

Mine (i5 R2) Started to make an annoying clicking noise. I just bought a used fan and replaced it. Now its super quiet unless I play games for 1< hour

I've owned both the R2 and R3 and it is normal. Though when gaming i would like as much cooling as possible so i'm partial to the R3.
The R3 fan should come on far less often if at all while idle however which is a bonus. Mainly because the CPU in the R3 is far more power efficient when it's not doing anything. -
well my 2 hardly gets hot playing 7 plus hours thank god for my as5
u guys should really put new thermal paste on ur cpus

Mine stays cools for the most pair but the ambient air temps is also a factor. I game in my basement, and the air is typically 10-15 degrees cooler.

Fan rpm = amount of noise, depends on the drivers for the gpu, cpu, and bios. So it's really tangible whether the r2 or r3 has more fan noise
fan noise on R2 and R3
