    After you replace the HDD,
You will want to go to this site: Dell - System Information

There you will enter your service tag and download all of the drivers.

You will need to install software for gaming such as DirectX and software for media such as Adobe Flash Player.
Of course, an antivirus, defrag, and stuff like that.

You can do what Even says but if you m11x is your main computer like it is mine I would suggest getting all the drivers squared away first and putting them on a thumb drive so that it doesn't require you connecting directly to your modem via a hardline. Just speaking from experience. I feel going to my cold basement (which my modem is) is a lot more of a hassle then already having them predownloaded upstairs in the warmth.

The reason I say this is that you will need the WiFi driver to begin with in order to download any of the other drivers.

Haha yeah it also helps for future clean installs.

I've had to do it at least 5 times over my 2 m11xs (r1 + r2) definitely saves time.

    Good luck to you!

Could doing a clean install on my computer effect performance if im getting random freezes and lockups? My dog destroyed the windows cd that came with my M11x and I would have to jump through a bunch of hoops to get them to send me a new one. I'm wondering if it's worth it..

If your current install is working fine then I would simply do an image and then write it to the new hard drive. I would only do a clean install if I had problems with system performance, bloatware or going from HDD > SSD.

When I replaced my hard drive with a larger one . I downloaded all the drivers I needed to the hd I was replacing . Buy a hard drive enclosure and install the old drive in it . Install the new hd in the laptop ,load windows . Plug in the old drive and go to where you saved your drivers and have fun .

Or image the old hard drive and write it to the new. Reboot and play...
