Hi all i've had this for a few days now and its fantastic it can play todays games and well too, however i've noticed on the two shooter games I have (Call of duty4 modern warfare and STALKER) that I get fps "jumps" if you will which will "freeze" me for maybe half a second (for example I just played a game of COD4 online and was getting 120fps but every 4 seconds *counted it* it would dip down to 70-80 and freezed me for half a sec or so then jumpo back to 120) now this may be fine for some people but I cannot play like this (Especially online in a first person shooter) Im not really sure of what to do I have "optimised" my system I have the latest drivers for the R1 (Note:not the beta drivers) Im overclocked (Possibly to do with this?) I have all applications off apart from steam and ventrillo (Including firewall antivirus etc) i've tried lowering the settings but it makes no differance.
Really at a loss here because I adore this machine but apart from WoW I cant seem to run anything else without getting these stange fps "jumps"
Any help / ideas are greatly appretiated.
(P.S Sorry about the wall of text)

Ill be honest, when i got this a few days ago i was about to overclock and change things, I am glad i didnt. I am playing all my games with no problems at all really. Even COD.
It really sounds like you have low ping, or overclocking did the trick to COD. As well im using stock drivers because all i hear is when people update they get new issues. -

Tried turning overclock off and am still getting it :| very hard to describe it other than a slight freeze / stutter every few seconds which is also a quick fps drop

Bump im sure i've read others having the same problem on this forum cant find anything with search though.

Go into Nvidia profile. For the games that are having issues... Enable Vsync with triple buffering enabled as well. Again, only for games that are having issues in the profile, enable vsync. No you wont get above 60fps but you should have a steady 60fps and the game will seem more stable.

Really dont know what to do here im seriously considering sending this back (I know thats a bit much but I cannot play games that freeze every few secs coninualy) -
format - after i did that it helped me in all games

Seb1990 - Ok... it sounds like you need to go into performance monitoring and enable some logging. You may have virus protection or something that runs while you are playing games. As I have mentioned in other threads (search for my BFBC2 optimization) your machine needs to have a cpu utilization of 0 before running games.
Virus protection is tricky though. It may periodically do a check during gameplay which will cause an impact in gaming. I am 100 percent certain of this...
So my next step for you is to take a good hard look at your active processes and any miscellaneous items running on your computer. Regardless if you format and reload you need to do this if you want max performance. I know this is tough and feel free to ask more questions if you run into issues. Take screenshots if you can to help everyone determine root cause.

I had a similar problem with Crysis. (lol I know) But the game would run at medium settings with an average of 30fps. But the game would get "stuck" for like a second every now and then without the framerate dropping. The audio was also scrambled. Was really weird. All my other games worked fine. I tried StevenX's vsync thing and it helped a bit but the video and audio kept stuttering and crackling.
I then installed the Intel Rapid Storage technology and reinstalled Crysis after that and then it works fine now. Dont know if maybe the hard drive reads/writes weird with the game or what.
PS: I tried reinstalling Crysis before installing the Intel Rapid Storage technology and it didnt help at all. And the game was upgraded to 1.2.1 in both cases. -
If the sound scrambled as well then it's most likely a hard drive issue. Could very possibly be caused by anti virus / other processes that do a lot of read / writes to the hard drive. Worst case scenario is that you have a defect HD in which case you need to replace it.

@seb1990 - read stevenx's post on the R1 optimization. It sounds like your problem could be solved by his solution. According to his post it has to do with win 7 that throttles your network.

Just wanted to add to this insted of starting a new thread.
My m11x r1 does this "stutter" also, but it only does it when I am on battery power and connected to the internet gameing. When I play l4d2 with wifi off and on battery (on the airplane) the game runs perfect, but when I play battlefield 2 online on battery power my guy randomly has a stroke and appears a few feet away facing the other direction. When I plug in the computer I get no such problems. My ping is always in the 30-40 range so I dont think I am lagging out when this happens.
Oh and I have all my games set to medium settings.

Ejohnson - please search for my thread called R1 must have optimization.
Do what is described to the multimedia settings. Also make sure you have max performance set to your battery profile. Edit the profile and make sure you have MIN and MAX processor set at 100 percent (for max performance).
There is also a config about wifi performance on battery, set it to max.

Cool thanks, I will do that right now.

Think I found the problem!
When going into the power settings I found that on battery the GPU power state sets to balanced even when you select the high perfomance setting as your main profile.
I also did the registry editing as you showed in that thread.
