I need a spare, sort of. What I want is a flatter brick that come with the newer dells; a colleague of mine had one and the ratings matched up. Anyone know of one?

Yes, that charger will work fine. And yes, that eBay auction looks legit and authentic (6000+ feedback, 99.5% positive, based out of the US, and has several other auctions of the same type - laptop chargers, batteries, etc).

As an FYI - Just about every Dell charger that is out in the field will work on the Alienware M11x. If the charger works on any Dell released in the past 8 years (Latitude, Inspiron, XPS, Studio, etc), then it will work on the Alienware M11x. This will also explain why the street price for these chargers is so much lower than the retail price - because there are so many of them out there in the field.
