i got my m11x back from dell, via my retailer, to fix a broken hinge. when i got it home the battery was flat (1 light), so i stuck it on the charger.

it was there till the battery meter reached 3 lights, when i noticed an electrical smell near the laptop. i also noticed the charger was getting ridiculously hot (whereas before it barely got warm)

i couldn't see anything blocking the charge port or anything - i'm naturally kinda worried (magnesium burns ferociously). is there now a big risk of fire, especially since it hasn't done this before? i'm considering sending it back to dell, but i haven't even turned it on yet, so i can't tell for sure if it was a one off.

i didn't send the charger with the laptop.

Yeah make sure you dont send the charger or anything else like that unless they tell you to... otherwise you will NOT get it back.
