    Hey guys.

So i finally got my new alienware m11x r3 :D

    LOVE IT

So down to business. I have encountered a problem when i hookup my loptop to a tv via the hdmi port. On the tv it cuts out alot on the outsides. i tried displaying it on only the tv... I also tried changing the resolution. It keeps being cut off on the outsides. Anyone know why? Or has anyone else ever ran into the problem? I just want it to display the full computer picture on the tv. (starcraft 2 on 55in sony bravia :O)

Thanks in advance guys, any help would be appriciated.

Check in the nVidia control pannel under "adjust desktop size and position" and make sure that "aspect ratio" is selected. Then go to the next tab "size" and check "enable desktop resizing." Tell us if neither of these work.

Is there a black border or something? Or is it like the screen isn't big enough for the displayed image? Or is it just a black border around a complete image?

I don't have a lot of experience hooking mine up to different screens (plus I use the DisplayPort almost exclusively), but any time I've had a problem the NVidia Control Panel has the wrong resolution, so that's what I'd check first. Make sure the resolution in NVidia Control Panel is the same as the native resolution of your awesome TV.

I found that I had to set the format on my TV to "unscaled" to get it all in.

im useing the nvidia 267 driver that came with it so i dont think i have these options. And i refuse to update my driver because im afraid of the outcome. Im new to updating computers like this so idk.....

Ive heard way to many stories of people upgrading their drivers to new ones and never being able to add a driver to their graphics card agian. I have the 290.67 beta driver downloaded but im too afraid to run it or driver sweep my old one away. Please help guys! i dont know what to do. Can i just install the beta 290 over my pre installed 267? please help :(

It might be called "wide mode" on the Sony...get the PC image up on it at 1920 x 1080 and then scroll through the different "wide modes" (on the TV remote, not the M11X)

my resolution wont go any higher then the native resolution (1366x766?) And i will try changing the tv display when i get home. As for Thatoldguy I still coulent find those settings even with the new nvidia 285 driver. :/

The tv screen isnt big enough for the immage. Like it cuts off all sides of the screen thats im sending to the tv

I have the same driver. Its in the nvidia control panel, under "3D settings" there is the "display" options, the 9th option down is "adjust desktop size and position". Your problem sounds exactly like what these settings are meant to fix.

This is a direct quote from the settings: "Use these settings if your display overscans (enlarges) the desktop resulting in portions of the desktop, being off-screen."

Forgot that your connecting to a TV, the option may look like this in that case: http://www.ldso.net/tronfaq/images/Nvidia_ControlPanel.jpg.pagespeed.ce.i8PZSdV_mr.jpg
