as the title suggests, I'm looking for a way to disable the trackpad on my m11x, mostly because when I type, it's hard to keep both thumbs airborne all the time and when my thumb accidentally touch the thing I start to type in other places. Anyone know a solution to this?

There is a box you can check when you go into the Synaptics properties to prevent the touchpad from working when it detects a usb mouse connected.

You can also adjust the sensitivity to incidental contact in the Synaptec control panel. I'd strongly recommend that you update to the latest driver from Synaptec as it offers you some nice features that the Dell driver doesn't have. Two-finger scrolling and gestures are particularly useful.
