Does anyone have the i3? What does it mean by overclockable? Bios overclocks or throttlestop/setfsb/other? By how much can you overclock?

Well, technically every CPU is overclockable, alienwars just simply have it in the BIOS already for you to use, which is why they use the term Overclockable. I don't think the i3 will see much of a performance gain from throttlestop, as it's relativily close to my CPU (The U5400 and it doesn't have turbo boost in it), however the "how much can you overclock" portion of it is simply testing... just keep trying each overclock setting and keep increasing it by 2 MHZ each time you find it's still stable, once you blue screen on a certain OC number, reduce it back to the the OC number right before you're unstable number.

I know how to overclock :p I was asking how high anyone with an i3 had gotten theirs but i think most everyone here has R1,i5,i7. i3 feels so lonely. So its not an unlocked multiplier or anything? Its like what they did with the SU7300?

If there is an overclock feature in the bios then yes you most likely can because i dont think it would be there if they didnt want you to use it..... Plus the i3 is suppose to be "overclockable" whatever they mean by that. Try it out and post what happens. Follow the guy above mes (<.< that s feels out of place) advice about only going up a little at a time though. Then run CPU-Z to see if the clock actually increased.

It looks like fluffboy has a Sandy Bridge i3, so overclocking isn't the same as yours, assuming you have the r2 i3 version. Gains on Sandy Bridge overclocking will be very small, a few percentage points at best, not even worth it to try.

Oh yeah the R2 and R3 have diff i3  i forgot. Yeah theres not really any point of the Sandy. Still, i was asking if it could be and since his apparently has a bios option might as well see what happens. If it starts humping your leg its not my fault.
