    Hi,

I just ordered what I thought was the i7 version of the mx11. Come to find out, i ordered the i5....

since the thing is in pre-production, they won't let me modify the order. So what I am wondering is there a huge difference in the proccessors, enough of one that would warrant me returning the i5 and re-ordering the i7?

thanks in advance for all your help.

and happy holiday, and a great new year!

Unless you're doing a lot of CPU intensive stuff (video encoding, simulation, virtual machines, etc.) then the difference between the two isn't significant enough to worry over. You're very likely not going to see any significant difference in frame rate for CPU bound games. So long as you didn't pay for an i7 then I wouldn't sweat it.

On the other hand, if it is a a big deal for you, then you can return the system during it's 21-day return period and order another system.

i agree, from all the research i have done, the extra you pay, really isnt worth it for the i7, im still waiting for my m11x r2 with the i7. i was originally getting the i5, but there was cheaper discounted deal for the i7.

It's not an extra 150 dollars good, tho.

Maybe a couple of extra FPS here & there, but Civilization 5 gets super slow in the mid game, and the little of Starcraft 2 that I played seemed like it would choke on big maps too.

So for me, m11x i7 = not worth it. There's also the issue of less battery life, but I'm not sure if the i5 gets much more battery.

The i5 and i7 are the same as far as battery is concerned.

I think this depends quite a lot on which country you are in! I went for the i7 as it was a good deal, and that took the price down to something comparable to the i5's :)
