I currently have a SU7300 at 1.9ghz, what would I have to do to a i5-520um to match it or beat it? what about the i7 640um?

i7 would beat it because that clocks up to ~2.3ghz but it would be about even with the i5 which clocks up to ~1.8 but has better archetecture

Also there are the four threads which are minimal but also provide a boost.

M11xR2 has maximum boost of 2.266GHz on the i7-640UM and then you've got throttlestop on top of that.

    M11xR3 i7-2617M gives you 2.6GHz if you're a speed freak. :D

Haha the overclock for the R3s are more rigid. Its only on or off with the sandy bridge mobile processors.

The max OC on the first gen I cores: i5=~1.8 with throttlestop i7=~2.3 with throttlestop

how far can the i5-520UM go with throttle stop and overclocking? like max speed?
edit: I see people getting 2.4ghz, thats really good. so my guess is this chip is a better performer than my 1.9ghz cpu then, hmmm..

I reach around 1950MHz (x12) sometimes peaking to 2268 (x14) on my i5 (having the base clock clocked on 162MHz) theoretically with the base clock on 166MHz a i5 could reach 2324MHz (14x 166MHz)

n.b. i just use overclock in the BIOS no TS

I was able to OC my friends M11xR2 for him to 2.7Ghz and it doenst have any heat issues and runs like a champ. Not as well as my R3 but far above what it was before. oh and that was with an i7 R2

Nice to know some people are willing to pull there skirt up and push these a little bit. So many people saying you cant push much just cause it says the specs are 1.8ghz max turbo
