so basically I had my laptop sleeping for 2-3 days and I got hit by some Java exploit malware thing. MSE took care of it but it felt really sluggish. Slower start ups then normal, Windows Update failing. Yada Yada Yada.

I'm pretty sure my RAM shouldnt be down around 1 GB. Its 4GB total and I'm not doing anything. It's just sitting there. Am I just being paranoid?

Oh and I did 2 factory restores but it still seems to be choppy.

Install Malwarebytes, update it, reboot into safe mode, run a scan, remove anything it finds and then reboot normally.

Even though MSE (or any AV product) detects and blocks something malicious, it's often only seen one component of the payload. More than likely you still have a rouge process that needs to be ripped out.

Malwarebytes finds nothing. That's what confuses me the most.

I had my fan replaced about a week or two ago. Could it be a hardware issue?

My bad. I didn't quite read your fist post. I was thinking you were reporting excessive CPU utilization after being infected.

1GB of memory utilization is absolutely normal for a system with 4GB of RAM. You're fine. Sorry about the confusion.

oh I see. I have one more question though.

When reading that chart in task manager. Should I be worried about Free or Available? And does the graph show amount available, or amount being used?

    Thanks

Is used, you have 1GB used, 3GB free, is normal, I have 1.5GB used right now, and I just have messenger, some IE tabs and that´s all...

And with 4GB of RAM, you are gonna have trouble trying to fill it with software you use normally...
