    so far, so good.
however, a few things do seem to be potential issues.

    1. the screen is definitely touching the keyboard when closed. I've been looking through the hinge thread, and would the best option be to just call dell and schedule a technician to come out?

    2. the keyboard isnt level. by that, i mean some keys are raised more than others, and some are tilted more than others. it's kinda hard to describe. basically, if you viewed the entire keyboard as a plane, it would have lumps and dips here and there.

    3. i got the computer as a refurb, but there is a scratch on it. is there anything i can do about that? it's not that big of a deal, but just seeing if anyone has had a similar experience.

really looking forward to this machine. need to get adjusted to the keyboard a little bit more, but so far...it's great.

You will enjoy the machine. my screen touches the keyboard. you can put a nice soft material to help with that. the keyboard is raised in areas like the wsad because there is no screws underneath holding the keyboard to it. ignore the scratch? not sure about that one. haha.

if you put anything between the keyboard and screen, won't it be less closed than it already is?

and my keyboard is curved upwards at the way left towards tab and caps lock. is that normal? as in, it's not flush with the edge of the laptop, but it sticks up higher than the side edge of the laptop by 1-2 millimeters.

looks like someones done a duff job on your refurb, if it's nothing you can personally fix i would call a technician if its bothering you that much, unless your happy to get your hands dirty and do it yourself...

i got my R2 brand spanking new, and i noticed that one side of the screen is slightly higher than the other. its not really noticeable but because its My R2 i notice everything about it.
