    looking to build a new one from scratch. all revisions use same parts?

    besides the motherboards beind different, do all revsions use the same chasis, keyboard, screen, wifi cards, etc?

    it is dificult browsing ebay for new parts because i am not 100% certain that all the parts are available but if all revisions of this laptop use the same parts then i can do a global search and help narrow down the build process.

    A lot of the parts between the R2 and R3 are interchangeable, but of course you'll need the correct heat sink assy to match with the motherboard to what you want to build.

    i am looking at building an R3 but parts are scarce searching ebay.

    quickly searching i am understanding or hoping that the following parts are like;

    -complete lcd assembly lid (screen, cam, wiring, alienhead light)

    -motherboards appear to come complete with heatsink, fan and cpu and gpu imbedded

    -chasis upper palmrest, comes with touchpad

    -chasis lower, not sure if speakers are included

    -bottom service bay

    -battery

    -wifi card

    -blue tooth card

    -complete screw set

    -keyboard

    -right hand side ports pcb

    -ac adapter


    the alienhead power switch and cover plate i am not sure about as i have not seen anything for this. not sure what else i may be missing. wish dell had a complete parts list for the R3 somewhere. maybe i can order the parts from them instead of searching on ebay.

    I've been thinking about doing This myself but if you are going to use the r3 mobo you Will need an r3 base chassis and palm rest. Daughter boarde HAVE to be made for the r3 version and palmrest is needed too.
    But other Than those you Can just throw in what you Want. :) wifi from killer, corsair vengeance ram etc.
