I know it's been discussed, but maybe not in this way directly.

Is there any ways of not having any intel drivers at all? I know on my old R1 you could obviously set it in the bios and just have descrite or integrated gfx all the time.

Is this something with optimus technology that is possible? The more I think about it, I'm never on battery for more than an hour, or two tops. I would prefer an nVidia over intel if it were possible.

An example being, with a fresh reload of an m11x R2, you install intel drivers, and if you were to NOT install any nVidia drivers, you'd have an intel based gaming machine, 24/7 I believe... Is there a way to do with nVidia?

No. Optimus NEEDS the Intel IGP. At worst, just set the nVidia GPU as the global default in the Nvidia Control Panel.

not possible. On optimus machines the chip is slightly altered. probably only on the firmware level since the original GT335M is already suppose to support Optimus. Unless you have a way to hack the BIOS then your dream might come true. The architecture in Optimus system is very different from a classic Switchable method like in R1.

Also because the nVidia GPU in an Optimus system is not connected to ANY display outputs... not even the laptop screen. It's connected ONLY to the Intel IGP (well, the PCIe bus, technically). It is attached sort of like an offside processor.

Either way, the Intel IGP cannot be disabled (unless if Intel releases special drivers to the effect, in which case, the Intel IGP will still be utilized for it's output drivers (hardware).

Read the Optimus Whitepaper, nVidia makes it avalible. :)
