hi there, my first post and proud to be a day 1 owner of a new m11x. Went ahead in doing a clean installaton of windows.

I've disabled all the unnecessary services and startup (including alienfx) and my boot up time is approximately 1min 20seconds to windows. Is this normal?

Appreciate if there are any additional tweaks on improving the boot time further as well. (apart from installing a SSD )

    My specifications : su7300 (overclocked) , 4gb ram and 500gb/7200RPM hd.

    Thanks

I don't think that's normal at all, my M11x takes 30 secs if not less with tweaking and such. I also have the same config you have. Check out the Optimization thread and try doing those tweaks as well, but 1min 30sec is way too long.

did exactly on the optimization. apparently from bios to windows welcome screen took approx 30sec. However the system would stall for abit during "welcome" for another 20-25seconds or so. Thereafter around 20seconds of delay where the desktop will boot to a "usable" state

30 seconds is amazing which i thought is only acheivable on SSD :p

Yeah, 1 minute 20 secs seems a little on the long side.

I haven't overclocked the CPU, and the system boots up in less than a minute (typing in my long password included.)

I am having the same problem...around the same lenghty time as @hypervision. I have the same config as him too, completed all those tweaks...
Could it be to do with which graphics card is selected upon boot up?
