    Hi ,
i looked alot through the forums but was unable to find an answer to this specific problem

today i received my ssd drive for my m11x and installed it right away .
After that i tried to install win7 but somehow my m11x doesn't recognize the boot dvd ...

did i miss something in bios ?

i have the dell external usb drive , is there anything special i need to know ?

this is what i get on boot screen :
    check cable connection!
pxe -m0f : exiting interl pxe rom
no bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key

i get that he tries to boot from network , but even when i disable that he still can't find my win7 dvd ...

pretty confused right now , any help will be appreciated

    thx
    Effax

    1) Can you confirm that your DVD is in working order? Can you test the DVD disc on another machine, to verify that it boots?

    2) If all else fails, make your own bootable USB stick and install Windows 7 off of that. You will need a 4GB or larger USB stick.

the dvd works perfectly , installed alot of programms with it already , but that was on the 250gb hdd i now switched .

The alienware win7 disk works fine on my m17x

i am now trying the USB stick method ^^

When I swapped in my SSD I first installed it without attaching the little extender to the SSD from the old drive so was also getting install errors. I don't remember exactly what my error message was but it might have been the same. Double check and make sure the old HD doesn't still have that plastic extender on it.
