Looking at an ultraportable to replace my SXPS as my mobile rig. I am looking at the C2D m11x as one of the possibilities for general IT work, general coding, and light gaming. The only concern I have is the SU7300 (the core i version of the m11x is NOT an option at all) and if it will have the punch I need. I wish they still had them in store at Best buy for me to test out but alas they do not.

So how many IT techs or computer scientists out their use or rely on their m11x r1 for their job tasks?

My M11x R1 holds up real well in the IT environment. Portability rocks when going from DC to DC and plugging in on the local LAN and reconfiguring my Ubuntu VM on the fly.

And when I'm waiting on others to finish work, a little WoW or Torchlight kills the time.

i'm a sys admin for a gov't agency - they gave me a latitude d830 to do my job. The m11x outperforms it by a mile and is ultra portable - what more do you want?

I only play wow and older rts (maybe a few sc2 games). All I need it to do is some light coding, several rdp sessions, and ssh to vnc.

m11x is overkill for wow, unless all you do is 25-man ICC (but even then it's still ok). SC2 plays very well.

I assume DC to DC means data center to data center.

I use mine for not so light coding (C/C++) and it works just fine (overkill really). Now if I could only get it to find & fix bugs faster :-/

Even then I know it will do just fine. WoW is a clieant server based game and the CPU does not have to do any serious math. But yes now I do alot of PVP and in cata Ill be doing 10 mans since the content will be the same.

I used my old acer aspire one for eclipse and visual studio just fine. Im not worried about compiling and linking too much, rather the feel of the keyboard when coding as the last thing I want when Im trying to solve a problem is hatred for the built in input.

Im not doing anything serious. If I will ever need serious compiling and linking I have my SXPS to do the serious tasks (and I can access it anywhere in the world).

I use my m11x for vms, rdp, telnet/ssh, security, etc. It's got more than enough horsepower for those sorts of tasks.

Keyboard feels fantastic, I guess. Coming from my older E1505, it feels like I was tapping on hard plastic; the M11x feels almost silky.
