Mine actually isn't that bad, I recently started noticing it when I was playing Singularity but other then that it's been unnoticeable for me.

Don't forget the children [no children, then play on]
Don't forget to get a girlfriend [Oh what the heck, just play on]

    Harden up, you're a gamer. :D

Do not stand too close to the screen. Sit a good distance away from the screen, as far away as the length of the cable allows.
Preferably play the game on a small screen.
Avoid playing if you are tired or have not had much sleep
Make sure that the room in which you are playing is well lit.
Rest for at least 10 to 15 minutes per hour while playing a video game.

Do you have r1 or r2 and what are your temps? Usually the palm rest doesn't make my hand red, just a little sweaty o_O

Really? You don't know why your palms are red after an hour of gaming? :D

Friction, pressure, heat, etc. It's all good. Game on.

you'll eventually build a callous, or get carpal tunnel.

also, you should edit your post rather than triple posting

    edit: quadruple posting...

If this does not happen on other laptops, I'd also guess that you may be slightly allergic to the material (something that would only come to play when continuously rubbing sweaty skin against it).
