    Hey guys,

I'm considering buying an m11x. My ASUS eee does a bang up job, but I love the Alienware style. I plan on using it for MS Office, watching DVDs, and some light gaming.

Not planning to load it up with options; the single core is sufficient, 2GB, maybe the 256GB SSD.

How does the m11x hold up on battery life? Is it anywhere close to the claimed 8 hours? How does it perform with Windows 7? Are you guys happy with it?

    Thanks.

I usually get about 5 hours battery life when I'm just sitting around with it on msn, firefox and maybe playing an online java-brower game.

If I turn off the wireless and lower all the settings it said over 7 hours battery life, but I needed internet so I didn't test that out..

There is no such thing as a single core. The base su4100 is a dual core processor and benchmarks the same as the 'upgrade' It just lacks virtualization support, which is very rarely needed by most endusers.

I have had my system about a month now and I am in absolute love with it. Just looking at the specs you wouldn't think it was too powerful of a gamer, but this system is much more than just the sum of its parts. The simple fact that you can play Crysis on this system at medium settings should give you a good idea of its prowess. Metro 2033 plays fine as well and COD modernwarfare 2 practically hums on high settings and 2x AA. The system is very well built and just reeks of quality. Like I said earlier..I love the system! :)

I'm really happy with the M11x. Does all of what I need a small system to do and more with the gaming capability. I don't see the CPU as being a problem. If you have a few min, here is a good thread that addressed peoples experience and overall satisfaction with the system given some of the issues that have been had.

A single core option for the m11x. Thanks for taking it out of context.

Amazing system, featured packed...However, I've always been told to avoid first gen products because they come with a crapload of problems, I never listened to that and I have always bought first gen hardware and never had a problem....the m11x being the exception, for the first time ever, I never had so many problems with a system out of the box... Build quality mainly.

After a lot of repairs and headaches I think I have a good system now, and i'm loving it.

Hope Revision 2 fixes all the details.

It has the best GPU for the price. Played AC2 for 2.5 hours without any problems. For the price, it really is the best bang for the buck.

Just gotta say...Love my m11x. I wish SSD's with larger capacities were cheaper, but that's not a knock against the machine itself. The ocz agility in this one makes the machine fly and I love it. I'd falcon punch someone if they tried to gank my m11x.

really good lappy, nothing like having a wicked looking laptop that you don't even have to charge every day depending on how much you use it.

my system has a dead pixel (or stuck) and thats the only thing i don't like besides that it's great.

it also runs a ton of my games off of steam upwards of 60 FPS which is pretty awesome at high settings.

    Thanks guys! :)

I do own an M17x (R1), which I use for my heavy gaming. From what you guys said, playing Civ4 won't be a problem.

Out here, Steam is not a practical option for us. We barely get 10KBS on our internet, but when I go to the US, I can stock up. Civ4 complete DVD has no DRM and I have an external unit to use.

I think I've heard enough to make a decision to buy one.

Thanks again, you guys are awesome!!

Nice, sound just like me. Although I returned my R-1 for an R-2 and have been waiting for dual 5870s.
