    Hi,
    just bought a m11x r1 from my mate its got all his data on it etc how do i restore it to be like out of box as new? do i press f12 and select repair windows then restore?

    If that method works for your machine then that would do. I remember reading that not all users are unable to access the system repair/recovery via the boot up process. (including me =()

    Another way is to to use the dell data storage software which came pre-installed in windows 7. I think there's a thread that discusses this.
