So... i go out of town to visit my friend, and i left my laptop power supply at home

i have an alienware m11x r1, power supply is 65w and my friend here has a hp dv8t with a 90w power, and output is 19v, 4.74A

can i use my friends charger, or will that kill my laptop?

i also dont know the specs on the m11x power supply, as i dont have mine with me

finally a side note, my hinge is busted, i was told that dell would fix it even if its out of warranty for free, is that true?

Yes and yes to both questions. I didnt recieve the thin PSU with my r3 it was the exact same as my wifes old HP laptop and it will work fine. I also gave my wife a dell 90w PSU when i gave her my old M11xR1 and hasnt had a problem ever. You are allowed 1 out of warranty hindge replacement as I also did it on my wifes R1

Not able to comment on the HP PS. I started using today the leftover 90w from dead Dell E1705 with no issues.

I dont have the 2 PSU's in front of me cause im deployed to Afghanistan but my HP SPU is the exact same as the PSU for my R3. Both watts and amps. Yes they replace the whole screen.

I have the m11x R2 and a Dell Inspiron 1525, both use the same charger, but different watts, it works fine, but for gaming it does not, I get less frames in all games, like Dirt 2, I get 30-40fps when I game in my settings, if I use the Inspiron charger, I get 15-25fps.....
