Has anyone else tried hooking up their m11x r2 to an external monitor with a higher resolution than the native res on the laptop? Everything seems to work flawless (tried both over HDMI and display port -> vga) as far as configuring the screens. I have tried a dell 2005FPW (1680x0150) and a 1920x1080 HDTV.

The problem happens when the secondary displays are at a higer resolution than 1366x768. I have tried launching a number of games with this configuration but they all fail. If the secondary monitors are at 1366x768 or below it works fine.

    Games tested:
    DiRT 2
    Batman Arkham Asylum
    Just Cause 2
    Defense Grid

    EDIT-UPDATE:
It appears that games wont run in full screen with the nvidia card unless I use projector only mode. But it does with intel gpu in extended mode.

I have tested with both the dell drivers and the beta drivers on dells website. I have not tried any of the custom INF/newer drivers.

    Questions:
    Is this a supported setup?
    Anyone had any similar experiences?
    Is this a known problem?

Seems to me it is likely another NVIDIA Optimus/Driver problem.

    Thanks!

I don't know if it really matters but could you list your monitor and the connection type you are using?

Do you use extended desktop or projector only mode?

I will be giving some more games a try and will report back.

I should add that if I run the games in windowed mode they do start on the larger display, but of course they are at a lower res. It seems to be when the game tries to go full screen that they crash.

Usually most of the games just crash, but Arkham Asylum gives an actual error:

Everything appears to work fine if I use projector only mode. Besides the other problems with the dell drivers.

NVIDIA will only work on the primary display. The secondary display is going to be Intel.

I was setting the larger screen to be the primary display and the m11x r2 display as secondary.

Bump, I'm also having this problem.
Games will work fine if playing fullscreen on the m11x, but if you set the primary to the external, it crashes when games load fullscreen on the external.

Nevermind, I just went into Intel graphics properties > general settings > display= built-in display; scaling > maintain aspect ratio and it fixed it. I forgot which one it was set normally but one of them should work.
