after owning the m11x r3 for a few days now thought i'd give a little rundown of the experience so far from a newcomers perspective to the range

very happy with the size / design, was originally worried about the thickness but after seeing it in person it seems fine

i thought the name tag under the machine was going to have my details on it, this wasn't the case, after googling a bit seems like its a regional thing, would have been cool but no big deal

dell supplied a power cable that didn't fit, took them 3 days to respond to my email that clearly discribed the problem and their response was very poor, like they didn't even bother to read the message so it seems like it will be a slow painfull task getting the replacement cable, if i didn't find access to a spare i could easily have been looking at a unpowered machine for my first week+

webcam flicker issue in some situations

fan is a lot louder than i expected but when you cram so much into a machine this size i guess its hard to avoid

performance is better than i was expecting for something this size

turning the keyboard backlight on and off seems to be software based and seems quite sluggish and will refuse to toggle in some situations, im not to fussed about the customisation so personally i'd prefure a hardware based quick on / off switch

can run 1080p 3d films fairly smoothly

really wish i could afford an ssd for this thing, would have gone for the hybrid drive option but this was unavailable when i ordered, want to upgrade this at some point as boot times are a little slow

brief game tests so far, everything stock out the box excluding windows auto updates:

nimbus - defaults to intel gpu and is unplayable but can be forced to nvidia in the drivers quite easily

street fighter 4 - had an issue where adjusting the graphics settings caused the game to crash, hitting alt enter to switch to fullscreen before adjusting any settings seemed to fix it, never had that issue on other systems, not sure if this is optimus related

resident evil 5 - runs well

lara croft and the guardian of light - runs well

    portal 2 - runs well

    burnout paradise - runs well

phase shift - intel is borderline but playable, forcing nvidia runs problem free

bionic commando rearmed - runs ok

    borderlands - runs ok

new super mario (dolphin) - playable

overall seems like its everything i could have hoped for bar a few minor issues, the noise level being the only thing that i really wish wasn't quite so bad, but its something im willing to deal with to have something this size

i would love to see them work out a deal to offer an internal ms gaming receiver for out the box 360 controller compatibility, but im not holding my breath on that one

Stuff like wrong cable replacement should be next day service. Usually takes 2-3 days at the most..
