Hi hopefully someone can help but my m11x screen is flickering like a strobe light, sometimes it stops for 1 min or so. When I boot to bios or diagnostic it doesn't do it. I also tried running it to my tv through hdmi and its also fine. Please help

EDIT: I've already re-installed windows 7 and updated all drivers but it's still the same

I would check if the screen is well connected to the board

I have, I also took it apart to see if it was a loose connection, I also opened the lcd and check the connection and it seems normal. Do you think it's LCD related or motherboard?

okay so I left the laptop on for a few hours to see if it'll make a difference and now its just flickering once about every 5-8 seconds.. alot better then before but if anyone know what the problem is and can help it'll be very helpful. I'm tempted to buy a new lcd but don't want to just waste money if the lcd is not the problem.. thanks again guys.

this issue really looks electrical, it looks like there is some kind of short happening.
It would take a new screen to test and be really sure which one is the culprit.
Do you often pop open your laptop? If so it could be a plug that came loose somewhere while you were fiddling somewhere else.
Try to check if everything is fastened correctly again, also a solder point may have come loose.
can you say if this problem also occurs when the computer is oriented in a specific way? (upside down, on the side...) this seems stupid but you could be surprised sometimes by what you find.

thanks for the reply seems like your the only one, I've tried reconnecting the wire that goes from the lcd to the mobo many times but it's still the same.. it seems if that when I load too much like a game the screen will flicker more.. I read somewhere that it may be a sign of a bad inverter. I think when there's too many voltage it'll start flickering and maybe in bios it doesn't use as much volts? I don't know..

Does it happen while using the discrete graphics vs using the GPU?

It was not the type of flickering I expected, I thought it would be more like tearing image and colored stripes type.
looks like it's the backlight that's going wrong, I can't remember if the backlight has an independent plug connecting to the mobo?
a guy on the net shows a test to detect bad inverter but this needs a spare lcd screen of any type
The last easy thing I can see is check the state of the display connector for bent or oxidized contacts, clean them thoroughly both on mobo and display and test again.
Next I would dismantle the display assembly to see if there is not a loose connection on the inverter.

thanks again for all your help... I think I finally figured out the problem. The wire that goes from the motherboard to the power led board is a little damaged on one of the pins. I reconnected it to my mobo and the lights on my system doesn't work anymore but the screen has stopped flickering. I retried the connection and the lights worked but the screen flickers. Maybe that's the shortage you were telling me about. I went on ahead to order a new wire but China is the only one carrying them and it'll take 2+ weeks. Thanks again!
