I just bought this last week... Amazon.com: OCZ Technology 120 GB Vertex 2 Series SATA II 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive (SSD) OCZSSD2-2VTXE120G: Gateway
OCZ Vertex 2, 120gb This baby FLYS. It's one of the fastest SSD on the market today, and for a relatively good price (as far as SSDs have went the past few years) From what I've been reading, there are very few SSDs that are quicker than that right now. Also the drive is technically 128gb... they leave 8gb untouchable by default for a "swap area" So even if you load this thing up to the max, it should stay at it's rated speeds. (Older SSD slowed down considerably if you came close to the limit)
I also found an external HDD enclosure for the stock HDD that is perfect for storing mass amounts of movies/music. 120gb of SSD is plenty for games/programs when you don't add up the movies/music (for me at least)
Re-installing windows is as simple as popping in the disk that came with your m11x. Once Windows is installed, visit dell.com and head to the drivers section for the m11x and download all that apply. Once you have all of the basic drivers, check out these forums for some sweet beta graphics drivers -
wow ! that was really a fast respond ! ! !
I will be taking on your advice no doubt, very very helpful on information from drive, installations and drivers .
thanks so much
appreciated
joey.
p.s buying it now -
Haha no problem. Couldn't hurt to hear a few more recommendations though. I'm very happy with my SSD no doubt, but I may have missed one, who knows.

Also when you do eventually swap the HDD out of your laptop... make sure you take the detachable connector off the old drive and put it on the new one. There was a good 15 minutes there when I swapped mine, where I had no idea why my m11x wasn't detecting the new SSD. It needs the little connector on the end to make contact with the motherboard, I didn't know this. XD

yup those adapters. you can miss them with a blind eye till you figure out why. good choice of going with an ssd. dang asus for having problems with these. :/
