So i'm about to get a nice big check and I was planning to use it to buy a m11x. However i'm having trouble choosing between r1 and r2. I've been hearing alot of problems with the R2 and optimus. With R1 being more stable and controllable with it's manual graphics switch. The battery life differential between the r1 and r2 isn't a big deal since i could live with 5-6 hours instead of 7. I would be paying around $1000 for the i7 and $875 for the Su7300. I also want to play games such as WoW, Civilization 5, Starcraft 2, etc. So i'm not sure which one would perform better.

The R2 would probably be better. I mean, as time goes on, better drivers will be released and the Optimus issues would probably go away. That extra processor power will be especially useful for games like starcraft 2 and civilization.

Thanks for the help. Yea I was thinking RTS games are heavy on processing so the i7 turbo boosted would really do well in that situtation.

This is how I look at it. You need better battery life, get the R1. You want more performance, buy the R2. Plain and simple.
